Lory Cogan Utz
After retiring from a career in fashion merchandising and design, I began to study drawing in graphite and colored pencil, followed by painting in watercolor. Through this work, I have found new ways to handle color and design. I became a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon in 2002.
WATERCOLOR FOCUS
Color and composition appeal to me, as well as creating paintings that communicate an upbeat, cheerful feeling. I particularly enjoy painting scenes from our travels or from our gardens
Painting flowers, landscapes, and old European buildings are major interests of mine. I strive to paint special, peaceful places that will encourage the viewer to step into the painting and stay a while whenever the desire arises.
Painting is certainly a lifelong journey with new challenges each step of the way. I look forward to the process of that journey as it progresses.
